We’re pleased to announce a new feature available on the TravelEssex website: ‘Create a Custom Map’ – a tool that allows you to build and download your very own map showing selected bus routes across Essex.
Whether you’re planning a journey, preparing information for a group, or just want a clearer picture of your local services, this feature puts control at your fingertips.
How it works:
Search your area – Use the search bar to enter a postcode or place name. If you’re looking for a specific service, simply enter a bus route number (e.g. 42A).
Pick up to 5 routes – Toggle bus routes on or off to tailor the map to your needs. You can also use the calendar to view routes operating on a chosen day (within the next 27 days).
Zoom in where it matters – Adjust the map view to focus on the parts of the route most relevant to you.
Download and go – Once you’ve built your map, you can export it as a PDF to take with you on your journey or share with others.

We’ve also made a few more enhancements to make using TravelEssex even easier:
Live Bus Map now shows scheduled upcoming buses to the stops in view.
Bus stop indicators (e.g. ‘Adj’, ‘Opp’) are now shown to help you identify which side of the road each stop is on.
