Places to visit in Essex by bus this Christmas

  1. Experience the magic of Christmas at Clacton Pier where you can visit Santa’s grotto and The Winter Wonderland including a 4D Santa's Sleigh ride and 18 holes of adventure golf. Pier Avenue bus stops, with connections to Clacton Rail Station and elsewhere, are a short distance away (200m).

  2. There are many fantastic pantomimes to enjoy. Oh no there aren't. Oh yes there are... In Colchester, there are The New Adventures of Peter Pan at the Mercury Theatre; Harlow Playhouse is performing Dick Whittington; Snow White is at Chelmsford Theatre and the Princes Theatre at Clacton is also performing Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

  3. There is so much to do if you are celebrating Christmas at Colchester Zoo... See Santa's reindeer, journey through The Santa Experience, meet the elves in their craft workshop, and discover the Enchanted Woodland. The First 75 and Hedingham 92 services can take you there.

  4. Experience the magic of Christmas at Riverside ice rink in Chelmsford from 1 December 2024 to 3 January 2025. Little ones can skate safely with the help of adorable penguin, snowman, and polar bear skating aids. The perfect place for festive family fun!

  5. Looking for a magical illuminate adventure for all the family to enjoy together? During December, Enlightened will be at Castle Park, Colchester with a huge outdoor light trail. Many buses pass near the castle which stop at the High Street.

  6. The Epping Ongar Lights Express (departing from Ongar Station) is an incredible light show in a steam train, consisting of thousands of coloured LED lights. Buses run from Epping High Road to Ongar.
