Consultations & Supported Services
When making a change to a subsidised service (one which Essex County Council supports the Transport Provider to run), we first like to understand the impact for people using the service, as well as ensuring we meet our criteria set out in the Bus Strategy "Getting Around in Essex".
You can see details here of the Getting Around in Essex Strategy.
You can see a full list of supported bus services (below in the document section). This has been updated to include all the changes for April 2025.

Service 9 Great Holland - Walton on the Naze - Operated by Hedingham & Chambers
Proposed change to Route
Expected Start Date: Monday 2nd June 2025.
Consultation Period: Thursday 24th April – Thursday 8th May.
Proposal:
Route change to the service 9 which currently serves Frinton Road, Elm Tree Avenue, Edenside, Skyrmans Fee, Frietuna Road (in both directions). The proposal is for the service to instead serve Halstead Road, Walton Road, Elm Tree Avenue, Edenside, Skyrmans Fee, Frietuna Road, Frinton Road (in both directions). This is to replace parts of the route which are currently served by commercially operated service 98 which is due to be withdrawn from Sunday 1st June 2025. Service 98A is not being withdrawn, which is financially supported by Essex County Council (ECC).
ECC would appreciate your views on the proposed route change for service 9 (Monday – Friday). Please send your comments for the consultation to the following email address: passenger.transport@essex.gov.uk
